lornaforpressThe Y is pleased to announce a new head coache for the Stingrays' Swim team.

Lorna Bumpous will be taking on the role of Head Coach. Lorna swam competitively for over 10 years in Albuquerque and Normal. During those years she swam both for the Bloomington-Normal Y's swim team and her high school team. She also swam one year at the college level and attended a 10-day long collegiate stroke clinic in Ft. Lauderdale before her college's swimming program was discontinued. Her accomplishments as a sprinter include qualifying for state in both relay and individual events. Lorna coached the 13 and under age groups for the Y team and assisted with a summer drills program for the team. She benefited from the experience of training with a former assistant Olympic Coach. From this experience her understanding of stroke drills and techniques enables her to help swimmers to a higher competitive level. She brings a passion for swimming and has already started planning for this year's season. She will be at both the Walker Stroke Clinic and the Stingrays Stroke Clinic and is very excited about meeting all the Stingrays!
